Our story begins in 1909, when Albert A. Threm (1883 - 1963) left his job at Sullivan Electric to start his own business, thus starting Cincinnati Electrical Repair Company in 1910.
By this time, Cincinnati Electrical Repair took on electric tool repair. We were the first authorized Black & Decker service station in the area. Other product lines included Van Dorn, Stanley, Miller Falls, Syntron-Clark floor machines, Jacobs Chuck, and Emerson electric fans and motors.
While at 313 East Pearl Street, there were two massive floods in Cincinnati, the floods of 1945 and 1948. In 1945, the Ohio River flooded and the water reached over 4-feet high in the shop! In the 1948 flood, the water level was not as high but still rose over a foot.
By 1953, the city of Cincinnati acquired all of Pearl Street to construct the recently completed Fort Washington Way. So again, Cincinnati Electrical Repair packed up and moved again. This time we moved to our present location at 2023 Elm Street. By this time, most of the electric motor repairmen had retired and were all doing tool work.
Now, Cincinnati Electrical Repair is still in the repair business, along with new tool sales, replacement parts, and accessories. We now are authorized to sell and repair tools from many manufacturers in the industry, including Hougen, Milwaukee, Bosch, Porter Cable, Hitachi, General Wire, and Panasonic.
